I buy most of my meat in the "last day" section ,as long as it is sealed. Sometime I cook in a week, sometime I freeze it , never a problem.

Does cooking raw meat extend use-by date?

No, cooking the meat does not extend the 'Use By' date, however it does give you longer to use the meat. Once the meat has been cooked, the 'Use by' date becomes redundant, as this is the date that the meat needed to be either cooked or frozen by. Once cooked, the meat has a useable time of up to three more days.

How long can vacuum sealed raw meat sit out?

No. The removal of oxygen from a food package does not eliminate microbial growth. Perishable (whether it is raw or cooked) meats and poultry in vacuum packaging cannot be stored at room temperature. They must be kept either in the refrigerator at 40 \xbaF or below, or for longer storage, in the freezer at 0 \xb0F or below.

How long is meat good after sell-by date if frozen?

Although raw meat and poultry will only keep for a few days in the fridge, these items can be kept past their sell-by date if you freeze them. According to FoodSafety.gov, frozen ground meat will last three to four months, and a whole chicken or turkey can be frozen for upwards of a year.

How long can packaged meat last?

Information. Storage times of meat and poultry products vary depending upon their processing method and packaging. Fresh meat in foam trays and shrink-wrap, and opened packages of luncheon meats may be refrigerated at 40 \xb0F or below for three to five days; ground meats, poultry and variety meats, one to two days.
