How do I interpret this date on tortillas? - Man And Woman Sitting On Grass Field

This is printed on the package of corn tortillas DA JUN 17 19 L3 15:18. What does this mean?

Best Answer

You could guess it's Best Before June 17th 2019, but the only way to confirm it would be check a new pack at the supermarket & see if it's a couple of months ahead of that, with a similar pattern, e.g. Oct 05 19 etc would confirm it.

Either that or it's the manufacture date.

Depending on when you bought them would hint as to which it might be.

What does the date on tortillas mean?

6-8 Months. Of course, all foods last for a shorter period of time if they are not stored properly. But, like many other products, tortillas usually have a best by date which is simply the last date by which a manufacturer will vouch for a product's quality, not its safety.

Where is the expiration date on tortillas?

If you've purchased a package, they'll probably have a best-by date stamped on the outside of the bag, giving you some direction as to how long they're going to be at their tastiest. Corn tortillas, like all foods, can go bad over time.

How far out of date can you eat tortillas?

For flour tortillas, they should last a week in a pantry and 3-4 weeks in a refrigerator. For your homemade tortillas, they are still safe to be eaten past the printed date for 2-3 days if you keep them in a pantry. If they're stashed away in a refrigerator, then you can still consume them within 5-7 days.

Can you use tortillas past expiration date?

Tortillas, whether opened or unopened, should retain their freshness before the dates, with good storage conditions. Beyond the date, tortillas may stay good. Generally, when stored in the fridge, tortillas can last up to 30 days after the sell-by date.
